SOP Library

Standard Operating Procedures are the authoritative, step-by-step execution sequences in the Operational Layer.

SOP

What SOPs Are

SOPs are complete execution procedures written for real use. They are designed to be followed exactly in the moment, not studied as lessons.

  • One SOP solves one operational problem.
  • SOPs are written as steps and decision rules.
  • SOPs are the single source of truth for procedures.

Domain Index

This SOP Library is organized by tool domain so procedures stay grouped by equipment type.

  • Survival Knives

Rule: Each SOP exists once only and is stored in exactly one domain.

Checklists

Checklist Relationship

Checklists are separate artifacts. SOPs contain procedures; checklists verify readiness and prevent missed steps. This page is SOP-only.

  • Do not embed full checklists inside SOPs unless the checklist is part of the procedure steps.
  • If a checklist is referenced, it belongs in the Checklists library.

Common Mistakes

Mistakes users make with SOPs

  • You search for instructions in training or overview articles instead of opening the SOP.
  • You rely on tips, advice, or memory instead of executing the SOP exactly as written.
  • You run an SOP that does not match your current situation, tool, or environment.
  • You skip steps because they feel obvious, familiar, or "safe enough."
  • You assume a linked SOP is sufficient without reading and following the full procedure.

Quick Reference

SOP authority rules

  • SOPs are execution artifacts only.
  • Articles may reference SOPs but may not restate steps.
  • If an SOP conflicts with an article, the SOP wins.
  • One SOP exists once only in one domain.
